Great Resource for Sears and Roebuck Houses!

Do you like looking at old Sears and Roebuck home catalogues? I know I do for several reasons! One can gain a great understanding of the homes construction, a perspective on the time period through the advertisements, and additional ideas concerning furniture layouts etc.

This is one of the best resources I have ever found! The Building Technology Heritage Library offers a large online collection of architectural trade catalogs, house plan books, and technical building guides from the 18th century up through 1964.

Seeing first hand how people envisioned their homes and personal spaces can help historic preservation professionals and novices gain a better understanding of these buildings and their inhabitants.

Look through some of these great resources!

I just found another fun resource for Sears and Roebuck Houses. The Sears Archives have general pictures and floorplans of the houses organized by the years the houses were produced and sold. Check out this resource too!
